  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Feel better fast, Claire!

Thanks BG. I'm still sick today. It's day 4 and I'm still in bed, with this darn cold just do-si-do-ing around my ears-nose-throat-chest areas. I'm very frustrated and very ready to be well.

Get well soon, Claire!

Remember, live-blogging is good for what ails you! :)

Oooh, that stinks. A lot of people I know are sick right now and it seems to linger.

Hope you're feeling better today!

You have what AG had. Get on the good meds PDQ.

Trust me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How're you feeling, Claire? Better, I hope. Did you make it out to SF? Was the flying miserable for you sinuses?

Thank you all! I'm back in the world again and think the worst is behind me. Now it's just a standard stuffy nose/cough.

I'm off to SF Friday, so hopefully I'll clear up even more before then. I'll post tomorrow. My poor Dad is getting sick now.

By now...I hope that you're totally healed and enjoying SF!
